About Bolawalana Ave Maria Convent

Who we are

Up to the year 1999, annually, the administration of Ave Maria Convent Main School- Negombo, managed by the Nuns of the Good Shepherd Order, was facing a huge problem during school admission period. This was due to heavy demand for admissions compared with very limited capacity available for grade 1 students.

The welfare board which consisted of parents of the students of that school discussed with the then General Manager of Catholic schools Rev. Fr. Ivan Perera and the then Archbishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Nicholas Marcus Fernando to find out a solution to the heavy demand for admissions. After series of lengthy discussions over a few years, the Archbishop agreed to donate Rs. 1.0 Million and a 2.0 acre land to the AMC Welfare Board to start an Ave Maria Branch School at Akkarapanaha.

School Anthem

Let us raise our voices sweetly
Let the bells of joy ring clear
Here’s a pledge of faith unbroken
To the school we hold so dear
At thy side we children gather
Mother dear so pure and fair
Guide us on to Christ our saviour
Keep us in the love and care
Ave Maria ///
Hail Mother dear
Steadfast, loyal, true and noble
Let us cherish all that’s right
Holy Spirit, lead us onward
In thy light let us see light
We shall march to greater glory
In the years that are to be
Working, praying, hoping trusting
In our Lord eternally.
